Having obtained three degrees and being on a track for a successful career in the national health service, I made a life-changing decision to re-train as a professional actor following a back-packing trip in the Southern Hemisphere.

I graduated from the Drama Studio London in 2003 and since then have been working steadily as a performer in theatre, on screen and in other media.

As any actor knows, it's a tough business to succeed in and you have to be in it because you love to perform and not for fame and fortune. I would be much better off financially if I'd remained in the field of work I gave up but I know I would not be as satisfied or fulfilled creatively.

I regard myself as a character actor and enjoy playing both gritty and comedic roles.

I love the thrill of performing live on stage in front of an audience and the buzz of being on set or location for filming in equal measure. I also enjoy meeting and working with other creative people and learning from them.

In addition to performing, I am passionate about health, fitness and sport. I am a qualified physical education teacher and personal trainer. I took up athletics at primary school and I still run regularly and  participate in events from 5k up to half-marathon. I like to set myself challenges to keep my running focused towards achieving a goal. I also enjoy helping people who want to improve their health and fitness.

In between acting projects, I work in a secondary school as a Pupil Support Assistant helping children who need additional support for learning. It's a challenging job but so rewarding to help young people develop their confidence, increase their knowledge and skills and feel included.
